It was all a rouse.
The bitch lied.
She took Aiden to the airport and asked me not to go... said she wanted some alone time with her son. And I mean, I can’t argue with that, right?
Besides... I already had a morning for the record books...
But she gets home, waltzes into the house like she rules the world, crosses her arms and gets this smug fucking look on her face. And she says:
“I’ve been packing my things.”
And I just shrugged and looked around.
“I haven’t noticed.” I said... and it wasn’t a lie. I really hadn’t paid much attention to her once I caught her taking every dick in the county.
“I’ll have the papers served next week. This just isn’t working.”
I shook my head, just stunned, disbelief washing over me. After everything she put me through... she was divorcing me?
“Ok?” I said, “What about Aiden? Does he even know?”
“No, that’s why I sent him away. I think...” She glared at me, “I don’t know... something’s off and I don’t like it. I don’t like he acts around you...”
My mouth fell open. So, she was going to just rip everything apart without even talking to anyone?
“Are you fucking kidding me? Aiden loves me like a dad... that’s it... and you’re trying to break that without even telling him? What the fuck is your problem?”
My voice was raising in pitch, I couldn’t help it. I was already about to lose it, feeling on the verge of hysteria… but tumbled over the edge just as she smiled... darkly.
“I’m not going to try... it’s already done. Aiden won’t be back... and neither will I. Get over it.”
I clenched my fists, seeing stars as I grabbed my phone, immediately pulling up my messages.
Call me when you land. We need to talk.
I hit send.
